Alexis Sanchez shared a heartfelt message for Arsenal following their recent triumph over Real Madrid in the Champions League.

 

Mikel Arteta’s team sealed a 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, putting an end to Madrid’s hopes of another legendary comeback and advancing to the semi-finals, where they’ll face Paris Saint-Germain—who defeated Aston Villa the day before.

 

Sanchez, who caused a stir among Arsenal fans when he left for Manchester United in 2018, took to Instagram after the match. Now playing for Serie A’s Udinese, the 36-year-old posted a photo of himself in an Arsenal jersey with the message: “In football, there are loves that you never forget,” and included the club’s anthem “North London Forever.”

 

In a 2020 interview, Sanchez reflected on his move to Manchester United, admitting regret soon after joining. “I took the chance to sign with United because it seemed like a great move. I admired the club growing up,” he said. “But I didn’t ask about the club’s internal situation. After my first training session, I sensed something was off.”

 

He added that although he had already committed, the environment didn’t feel right, and the team lacked unity, which left him disappointed during his time there.

 

In 2023, following the end of his contract with Marseille, Sanchez expressed interest in returning to Arsenal. However, Mikel Arteta declined the proposal, making it clear he wasn’t looking to bring the Chilean forward back.
