According to some insider information, Manchester United academy player, who had been out of the first-team picture, has been observed training with the senior squad under Michael Carrick after completing a loan spell away from the club.

As Michael Carrick takes charge of Manchester United ahead of the Manchester derby, a surprising academy player has been included in first-team training sessions.

Following his appointment as interim head coach, Carrick has begun working with the squad at Carrington, welcoming back players like Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbeumo from international duty.

Among the young talents involved was 20-year-old defender Habeeb Ogunneye, who has recently returned from a loan spell at Newport County. Ogunneye made 21 appearances for the League Two side but saw his playing time reduced in recent weeks, leading to the early termination of his loan.

Journalist Nathan Salt reported that Ogunneye participated in Carrick’s first training session, likely providing cover at right-back in the absence of Noussair Mazraoui.

United are now evaluating the next steps for Ogunneye, which could involve another loan move for the remainder of the season or a role within the academy setup, offering additional depth to the senior squad. His inclusion comes as Carrick assesses his options at right-back, a position of some concern given Diogo Dalot’s inconsistent form. Should further reinforcements be needed, Carrick may also look to other academy prospects such as Jaydan Kamason, James Overy, or Jayden Ngwashi.
