Kobbie Mainoo Eyes January Loan Exit Amidst Rival Club Interest

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is reportedly considering a loan move in January to secure more playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The 20-year-old has expressed his desire for regular first-team football, a sentiment shared by manager Ruben Amorim, who has acknowledged Mainoo’s limited opportunities under his tenure. Clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have shown interest in the young talent, with Tottenham said to have made a late inquiry during the summer transfer window.

Mainoo’s potential move is further complicated by Manchester United’s plans to strengthen their midfield. The club is reportedly preparing a £100 million bid for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba in January, which could signal the club’s intention to push Mainoo out. Additionally, United have been linked with a swap deal involving Mainoo and £44 million for Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde, although Real Madrid have no interest in negotiating.

With limited game time and increased competition in midfield, Mainoo’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain. A loan move could provide him with the necessary exposure to enhance his development and World Cup prospects. As the January transfer window approaches, all eyes will be on Mainoo’s next move and whether Manchester United will facilitate his departure.
