Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital’s takeover in 2022, Chelsea has made significant investments in players, with William Gallas naming one signing he deems a “disaster.”

Under new ownership, the club revamped its squad, breaking the British transfer record twice for Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, while also heavily investing in Wesley Fofana and Mykhailo Mudryk.

Despite the high number of signings, not all moves have paid off, and Gallas pointed out that Wesley Fofana’s transfer has been particularly problematic.

Gallas shared his concerns about the £70 million signing, highlighting Fofana’s struggles with injuries since joining, especially after a previous long-term injury at Leicester. Even when fit, Fofana has not been able to deliver consistent performances. Gallas believes Chelsea may have made a costly mistake, noting the difficulty in bouncing back from serious injuries.

Currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, Fofana is nearing a return, though his Chelsea career has been marred by injury setbacks, having made only 32 appearances since his 2022 transfer.
