Jude Bellingham, who was once a top target for Liverpool, had several clubs vying for his signature as he prepared to leave Borussia Dortmund in 2023. While Liverpool was eager to sign the young midfielder, Bellingham ultimately decided to join Real Madrid.
Now, the 21-year-old has shared his thoughts on another player of interest to Liverpool—Rodrygo Goes.
As Liverpool played to a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa, Real Madrid were securing a dominant 3-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League. Bellingham had already scored a vital 92nd-minute winner in the first leg at the Etihad, putting Madrid 3-2 up. In the return leg, Madrid extended their lead, with a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappe.
In a CBS Sports interview after the match, Bellingham was asked about Rodrygo. He spoke highly of the Brazilian, claiming he is the most talented player in the squad, even above stars like Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. He described Rodrygo as “underrated” and praised his skill with the ball, adding that he often amazes teammates with his ability to do things with the ball that others can’t replicate.
Bellingham also highlighted Rodrygo’s work ethic, noting that he is willing to sacrifice his preferred left-wing role to help the team on the right. “He just gets on with it,” Bellingham said, appreciating Rodrygo’s dedication to both attacking and defending.
Rodrygo, who joined Real Madrid for £37 million in 2018, has become a key player for the club. However, Liverpool’s interest in him hasn’t waned. Reports from last September indicated that Liverpool had approached Real Madrid about signing the winger, and it was confirmed that his representatives know of Liverpool’s ongoing interest.
Despite this, Rodrygo has shown no intention of leaving Madrid, expressing his desire to stay as long as the club continues to value him.
