Manchester United have reportedly held internal discussions about a potential summer transfer for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano via his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter. While the club has identified the Slovenia international as a possible addition to their attacking options, no formal approach has been made so far, and talks remain at an early stage.

Sesko has been a name on the radar of several Premier League clubs in recent transfer windows, with Arsenal previously showing strong interest in bringing the 22-year-old to England. However, recent developments suggest that the Gunners are now prioritizing the pursuit of Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, which has resulted in their interest in Sesko cooling down despite their long-standing admiration for the player.

In his newsletter, Romano clarified the current situation regarding Manchester United’s pursuit of the Leipzig forward, stating: “The story is not at that stage yet. It’s just an internal discussion at this stage, so it’s not at advanced stage on player side at the moment.” This suggests that while United are exploring the possibility, no negotiations have been initiated with either the player or his club.

Benjamin Sesko, who has been praised as “one of the fastest forwards in the world,” signed a new contract with RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024, extending his stay at the Bundesliga club until June 2029. He is coming off the back of his most impressive season yet, having scored 21 goals and provided 6 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign.

Despite Manchester United’s interest in Sesko, they are believed to be keeping their options open as they search for a new striker. One of the alternative targets under consideration is Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins. According to sources at GIVEMESPORT, Watkins could be open to a move away from Villa Park, especially if the opportunity to work under manager Ruben Amorim becomes available in the coming weeks.

As the summer transfer window progresses, Manchester United’s plans to strengthen their front line continue to evolve, with Sesko being one of several names on their shortlist. Whether or not they decide to take concrete steps toward signing the Slovenian remains to be seen, but internal discussions signal that the club is actively exploring ways to reinforce their attack ahead of the new season.
