Footballville has learned that Chelsea have internally discussed the possibility of recalling Andrey Santos from his loan at Strasbourg before the transfer window closes on Monday.

Enzo Maresca has emphasized the need to strengthen the midfield, especially after Renato Veiga’s loan move to Juventus and the potential departures of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka. With Romeo Lavia sidelined due to injury, Chelsea are currently short on midfield options.

Sources have informed TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, that Chelsea are evaluating whether to bring Santos back or allow him to finish the season in France. The 20-year-old has impressed at Strasbourg, contributing eight goals and two assists, and some within the club believe he could make a bigger impact than other potential signings.

Santos has featured both as a holding midfielder and in a more advanced role, proving to be a key player under Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior. His strong performances have helped the team climb into the top half of Ligue 1, and Rosenior has backed him to have an “outstanding career.”

Now, Chelsea must decide whether to reintegrate him for the remainder of the season or let him continue his development in France.
