With Chelsea already poised to lose a first-team defender in the January transfer window, another player may soon follow suit.

Following reports that Renato Veiga is set to leave, Axel Disasi is also reportedly on his way out this month.

Enzo Maresca has decided to exclude Disasi from the squad for today’s Premier League match against Bournemouth.

Disasi has struggled to secure a starting spot in his preferred center-back role this season and has often been used as a right-back.

He was included in the starting lineup for Chelsea’s FA Cup tie against Morecambe over the weekend, during which the opposition fans mocked him.

Maresca’s decision to leave Disasi out of the squad is believed to have come after a discussion between the player and the manager. According to Fabrizio Romano, Disasi’s exclusion suggests he could be set to leave the club this January.

Romano reported: “Disasi spoke to the manager today, and I am informed he might be left out of the Chelsea squad tomorrow and is expected to depart during this window. There have been links with Juventus, but no official approach has been made yet.”

Chelsea is reportedly keen to part ways with the defender, with Maresca’s decision further supporting the possibility of his departure.

Who Could Replace Disasi at Chelsea?

Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace is said to be Chelsea’s primary target to strengthen their defense this month. The club has urged Guehi to push for a move, which would help ease negotiations with their Premier League counterparts.

Alternatively, Chelsea is considering the option of recalling Trevoh Chalobah, although Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has stated Chalobah is content at his current club.

If the Blues do not sign a big-name defender, rising star Josh Acheampong could emerge as a key option for Maresca, with the young player expected to start alongside Levi Colwill for the Bournemouth match.
