As of now, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that INEOS is actively working to secure Amorim’s preferred signing ahead of the pre-season.

As July begins, Manchester United, under the leadership of INEOS and new head coach Rúben Amorim, have only secured the signing of Matheus Cunha. Despite being a promising addition, Cunha alone isn’t enough to elevate a squad that finished 15th last season into a Champions League contender.

United have now turned their attention to Bryan Mbeumo, who filled the void left by Ivan Toney at Brentford during the 2024/25 season. The 25-year-old has become a prime target, expected to be the next signing as the club focuses on players with proven Premier League experience—an approach they arguably should’ve adopted seasons ago.

Cunha and Mbeumo combined for 47 goal contributions last season, far surpassing what current forwards like Rasmus Højlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Joshua Zirkzee have produced. Mbeumo’s potential arrival could provide the attacking firepower United desperately need.

Although Mbeumo has shown interest in joining the Red Devils—preferring them over Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham—a deal isn’t finalized. United’s latest offer of £62.5 million, matching Cunha’s fee, was rejected by Brentford. Amorim is eager to have Mbeumo at Carrington by July 7 for pre-season integration.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed Monday night that wrapping up the Mbeumo deal is INEOS’ main focus. “As of today, Manchester United are fully focused on completing the Bryan Mbeumo deal as soon as possible. Manchester United are in the process of that,” he stated.
