Signed from Atalanta for £37 million in 2020 during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure, Amad is still on the original terms of his deal. Amad also earned Amorim’s approval following his first start as a wing-back against Ipswich Town. “I think he did very well,” the manager remarked. “In just three days, his defensive awareness improved significantly. The role was more straightforward, man-marking one opponent and attacking with the same player. He was extremely focused and did a fantastic job.”
