Jamie O’Hara has praised Chelsea’s strong start to the season but singled out goalkeeper Robert Sanchez as a significant weakness for the team.

The Blues secured a vital 2-1 win against Leicester City over the weekend, with goals from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez keeping them third in the league standings. The victory also brought them within one point of Manchester City after Pep Guardiola’s side fell to Tottenham.

However, O’Hara criticized Sanchez’s performances, labeling the Spanish goalkeeper as a “massive problem.” The 26-year-old has faced scrutiny throughout the season for several costly mistakes, despite manager Enzo Maresca publicly defending him.

During the Leicester match, Sanchez had little to contend with due to a lackluster attacking display from the Foxes, but many fans and pundits, including former Chelsea keeper Mark Schwarzer, believe the club needs a stronger presence between the posts.

Speaking to talkSPORT, O’Hara remarked, “Chelsea look good, but they’re still shaky at the back. Sanchez, the goalkeeper, is a massive problem. He’s terrible. Teams that win the league don’t have bad goalkeepers. Every title-winning side has a top-class goalkeeper.”

O’Hara’s criticism aligns with the growing consensus that Chelsea must address their goalkeeping situation to mount a serious Premier League title challenge. Backup keeper Filip Jorgensen is set to feature against Heidenheim in the Conference League, but Sanchez is expected to reclaim his spot against Aston Villa on Sunday.
