Chelsea have the opportunity to secure a former Enzo Maresca player at a cut-price deal after being left highly impressed by his performances.

Chelsea are reportedly showing strong interest in a Premier League goalkeeper who previously played under Enzo Maresca.

Since taking over at Stamford Bridge, Maresca has worked with familiar names like Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia from Manchester City’s academy, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, whom he managed at Leicester during their 2023/24 promotion-winning season.

Though Chelsea’s debut campaign under Maresca has been mixed, with growing pressure due to Champions League qualification risks, the club remains committed to giving him time—at least two seasons to build his project.

According to The Sun, Chelsea have been impressed by Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen. Despite Leicester’s confirmed relegation, Hermansen has delivered standout performances. Given the Foxes’ financial issues, he may be available for a reduced fee—possibly around £35 million.

Chelsea are expected to reassess their goalkeeping department this summer. While they admire Hermansen, they already have multiple keepers on their books, including Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Djordje Petrovic, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Mike Penders.

Sanchez and Jorgensen have struggled to convince as reliable No.1s, while Hermansen has shone individually in a struggling Leicester team. His stats support his consistency—only one error leading to a goal in 26 appearances, compared to Sanchez’s five in 27 games.

Hermansen played a key role under Maresca during Leicester’s promotion campaign and is known for his quick reflexes, command of the box, and ability to play out from the back—ideal for Maresca’s system.

Maresca even called him “brilliant” after Hermansen saved a Cole Palmer penalty in Chelsea’s 1–0 win over Leicester in March 2025.

There’s no doubt the Danish keeper is Premier League quality and likely to draw interest this summer, with Chelsea weighing whether he’s the right fit for their future.
