Manchester United are prepared to sell a key player not favored by Amorim for £34 million, even though they’ve previously received offers exceeding £60 million.

Manchester United and INEOS seem to be working quietly behind the scenes to line up reinforcements ahead of Ruben Amorim’s first full season at the helm.

 

Before United’s Europa League quarter-final clash with Lyon, Amorim confirmed that Andre Onana would be back in goal. Onana, recently benched against Newcastle, has faced transfer speculation and appears unsettled at Old Trafford.

 

Asked whether a new goalkeeper might be on the cards, Amorim emphasized a broader goal: strengthening every area of the team.

 

“We’ll assess each role within the squad,” he said. “Even I haven’t performed well — probably the worst in the group. Improvement is needed everywhere. We can’t replace everyone, but every position can be better. Onana has shown his quality with Inter, and Altay has done the same with Fenerbahce. Some seasons just don’t go our way.”

 

Big Changes Expected at Old Trafford

 

United could be in for a busy summer with up to ten players reportedly set to leave. Among the names linked with an exit is Alejandro Garnacho, despite being regularly featured by Amorim in various attacking roles.

 

Napoli is said to be very interested in the young Argentine and even offered £67 million, but new reports from Spain claim United might accept much less — around €40m (£34m). Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are also monitoring the situation.

 

Although Garnacho is under contract until 2028, it’s believed he’s no longer seen as a vital piece of the club’s future plans.
