Real Madrid player raises concerns over Carlo Ancelotti’s strategy following loss to Arsenal.

A prominent member of Real Madrid’s senior squad has raised concerns about the team’s tactical approach during their recent encounter with Arsenal.

 

The Spanish powerhouse had a dismal outing in European competition, compounding last week’s 3-0 loss in the Champions League quarter-final first leg with another subpar performance. The result was a devastating 5-1 defeat on aggregate, knocking them out of the tournament.

 

One of the players displeased with the game plan was goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. Speaking after the match at the Santiago Bernabéu, the Belgian international openly criticized the tactical decisions made by manager Carlo Ancelotti and his coaching staff.

 

Courtois pointed out that the team overly depended on delivering crosses into the box, despite lacking a suitable target man, stating, “Rather than sending in so many crosses, we should have focused more on playing cohesively… There’s no Joselu in the box.”

 

He further emphasized the need for unity, saying, “We need to start functioning as a team instead of playing individually. It’s time for some self-reflection.”

 

His statements underline the increasing discontent within the squad after their Champions League disappointment.
