According to Prominent Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano Liverpool are already ready to finalize the deal regarding the signing of a £26 million La Liga ace defender who is eager to join the club.

Liverpool are now moving swiftly to secure some promising deals as the transfer window nears its end.

 

The Reds had remained inactive for the first two months of the summer, allowing new head coach Arne Slot time to evaluate the squad he inherited.

 

With Slot having had ample time to work with the team, he has now given the go-ahead for new signings.

 

Liverpool are actively pursuing Martin Zubimendi, and it remains highly likely that the Euro 2024 winner will soon be joining Anfield.

 

Additionally, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are also considering whether to make a formal move for another standout player from this summer’s tournament.

Liverpool are in discussions about a potential deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili.

One potential issue that Arne Slot may need to address is the situation with Liverpool’s goalkeeping department. Despite a relatively quiet transfer window, Caoimhin Kelleher could still leave the club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have been given an opportunity to secure the future of their goalkeeping position by signing Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili. Romano reported that Liverpool have been presented with the chance to sign Mamardashvili and then loan him out.

Romano explained on his Playback channel that Liverpool have been informed about the details of the deal, which would involve paying around €30 million (£26 million) for the goalkeeper. The decision now lies with Liverpool on whether they want to proceed with the signing, loan Mamardashvili out, and consider him as a potential future replacement for Alisson, or if they will pass on this opportunity and stick with their current goalkeepers.

Mamardashvili is reportedly open to the arrangement, understanding that he wouldn’t immediately become Liverpool’s starting goalkeeper but would still be part of the club’s long-term plans. Whether or not Liverpool move forward with the deal depends on their internal decision-making.

The idea of signing Mamardashvili could be appealing if Kelleher leaves, but if he stays, it might not be necessary, and the funds could be better allocated elsewhere.
