Manchester United are exploring multiple midfield options this summer to strengthen their squad. Their primary target, Manuel Ugarte, has not yet progressed towards a deal with Paris Saint-Germain.

Alternatives like Adrien Rabiot and Martin Zubimendi are being considered. Sofyan Amrabat is also a possibility, despite United not exercising the option to buy him after last season.

Additionally, Conor Gallagher, who spent last season in the Premier League, is another potential signing.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea is asking for around £30 million, including add-ons, for Gallagher.

While negotiations are ongoing with Atletico Madrid, this fee might entice United to make a move.

This price is significantly lower than what PSG is reportedly asking for Ugarte.

Keeping costs down could allow United to retain key players like Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Scott McTominay while still making necessary sales to fund a replacement.

Romano mentions that Chelsea’s asking price gives United the green light to consider a bid.

Much like Mason Mount, Gallagher is in the final year of his contract, but Chelsea is asking for half of what they received from United for Mount last year.

This could mean United might pay a combined £90 million for both players. Gallagher could be the perfect player to maximize Mount’s potential.

The duo has played together over 30 times for club and country, with Mount scoring four goals and assisting another, while Gallagher contributed three goals and three assists.

Gallagher’s presence would allow Mount to play a more advanced role, which Erik ten Hag has utilized in pre-season, potentially enhancing his performance.
