Liverpool goalkeeper Adrián San Miguel has expressed his desire to return to La Liga during the upcoming summer transfer window. Speaking to Movistar Plus, the 37-year-old discussed his future at Anfield, as reported by Mucho Deporte.

Adrián has not featured for Liverpool this season and has only played two games since the beginning of the 2021/22 campaign. With his current contract set to expire in June, it appears likely that his future lies away from the Merseyside club.

The Spaniard left Real Betis for West Ham United in 2013 before joining Jürgen Klopp’s side on a free transfer after six years with the London club. Now, he is aiming to return to La Liga in the upcoming window.

Adrián stated, “I would like to return to La Liga after 11 seasons in the Premier League. It would be the end of a cycle. I’m still ready to compete. I feel very good despite being 37. You know that goalkeepers, if you take good care of yourself, if you haven’t had any serious injuries lately and you’re fine, the daily training gives you that intensity that makes you compete.”

He added, “I think Adrián has a long time left, and it’s true that I would like to return to La Liga. It has to be a nice, interesting project.”

Although Adrián has not discussed his future with Liverpool, his focus appears to be on La Liga for now. He explained, “I haven’t sat down with Liverpool yet either. I don’t rule out that we could have a pending conversation, but it is true that we will be looking out of the corner of our eye to see what happens in La Liga.”

Real Betis’s Claudio Bravo is expected to leave the club when his contract expires next month, and the Andalusian club could consider bringing Adrián back in the upcoming window.
