“He won’t remain at Old Trafford. He’s definitely leaving in the summer” – Fabrizio Romano reveals significant Tuesday morning update regarding Manchester United.

Fabrizio Romano asserts that Donny van de Beek, the midfielder for Manchester United, will not remain at Old Trafford this summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is set to depart from Old Trafford once he completes his loan spell at Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.

This news comes amidst a recent minority takeover of the club by INEOS, with chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe now overseeing football operations.

With the club’s disappointing performance in both the Premier League and Champions League, head coach Erik ten Hag’s position is uncertain.

Van de Beek has faced challenges since joining Manchester United nearly four years ago.

Eintracht Frankfurt won’t exercise their purchase option for the midfielder

Manchester United secured van de Beek’s transfer from Ajax in September 2020, in a transaction valued at £39m.

The midfielder inked a contract extending until the summer of 2025, cementing his commitment to the Red Devils for the long haul.

Nevertheless, van de Beek has had limited opportunities over the last four seasons, as managers like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick, and Erik ten Hag favored other midfield options.

It wasn’t unexpected when, ahead of the 2024 winter transfer window, the 27-year-old secured a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt until the conclusion of the 2023/24 season.

Eintracht Frankfurt, the 2022 Europa League champions, also have a €15m (£13m) option to purchase the Dutch midfielder.

However, according to Romano’s insights shared in his CaughtOffside column, van de Beek is slated to return to Manchester United this summer following Eintracht Frankfurt’s decision not to exercise the buy option in his loan deal.

Despite his return to Old Trafford, it’s unlikely that he will stay there. Romano indicated:

 

“The feeling is that Donny van de Beek will return to Manchester United this summer as Eintracht Frankfurt have decided not to trigger the buy clause in his loan deal.

So, van de Beek will be back at Man United, but he’s not going to stay – from what I’m told, United have already explored other possibilities around Europe for the Dutch midfielder to leave this summer.

He will be available on the market, and he will not stay at Old Trafford.”

 

Meanwhile, Manchester United is unlikely to pursue a move for VfB Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy this summer, as per sources from GIVEMESPORT.

Despite Guirassy’s impressive performance in the Bundesliga, with 27 goals and two assists in 26 appearances, United is hesitant to activate his €17.5m (£15m) release clause.

They aim to acquire a younger center-forward with greater potential, with Rasmus Hojlund in mind. Given Guirassy’s age and current form, there are concerns that he may have already reached his peak.

Consequently, United will explore other options as Guirassy considers a move to the Premier League.
