Liverpool has been surprised by Luis Diaz’s plea for a new contract at Anfield.

The winger, who has drawn interest from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain lately, has supposedly requested an extension to his contract that matches his current performance level.

Diaz has been in exceptional form since the start of the year, registering five goals and three assists in his last 10 Premier League outings.

Despite joining from Porto in January 2022, the Colombian winger has yet to extend his contract beyond the initial five-and-a-half-year agreement.

 

This has led the 27-year-old to reportedly seek a new contract through his agent.

While Diaz still has three years remaining on his current deal, he is said to desire terms that align with his current performance level.

 

According to reports from HITC, Liverpool has been taken aback by this request, particularly noting that there is ample time left on his existing contract.
