In a video released by Spanish outlet Jijantes on Monday, Murtough and the club’s director of negotiations, Matt Hargreaves, were filmed meeting with a group of individuals in Barcelona.

Among them were Barcelona’s sporting director Deco and two CAA Base agents, Frank Tramboli and Fede Massai.

The presence of CAA Base agents raised eyebrows as Greenwood continues to be linked with a potential move, especially since Greenwood doesn’t have any official representation, with his father taking a prominent role in negotiations during his career so far.

The purpose of Murtough and Hargreaves’ visit to Spain could be to facilitate Greenwood’s move once his loan spell at Getafe concludes. Greenwood has impressed during his time at Getafe, tallying eight goals and five assists in 26 appearances.

Reports suggest that Greenwood’s performances have attracted interest from top La Liga clubs, including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

The footage of Murtough’s meeting with Barcelona officials comes shortly after reports from Sport indicated that Barcelona had made a move for Greenwood.

It was reported that Barcelona viewed him as a cost-effective option amid United’s potential willingness to sell and the uncertainty surrounding his future.

The speculation around Greenwood’s future intensified following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s £1.3 billion investment in Manchester United in February.

Ratcliffe hinted at a reconsideration of Greenwood’s situation, suggesting that a “fresh” decision would be made regarding his future after Richard Arnold allegedly changed plans to reintegrate him into Erik ten Hag’s squad for the current season.
