Despite repeatedly asserting his innocence, denying involvement in a scuffle with Greek police attempting to intervene in a brawl, Maguire and his family, including his brother Joe, sister Daisy, and then-fiancée Fern Hawkins, were involved in an altercation with two individuals, as reported by court records. Maguire argued that the situation escalated after his sister Daisy was allegedly injected with an unknown substance, causing her to lose consciousness.

Maguire’s appeal, scheduled for Wednesday, was anticipated as an opportunity to clear his name after eighteen months. However, due to an ongoing strike by Greek lawyers, including the union of lawyers protesting new tax measures, the appeal hearing has been postponed. Consequently, Maguire’s hopes for a resolution in the case have been delayed.

Yannis Paradisis, the prosecuting lawyer, confirmed the adjournment of the case due to the strike, indicating that the court proceedings cannot proceed as planned. A new hearing date is expected to be determined by the judge in the near future.
