“What position is he instructed to play? Where should he be on the football pitch? I see him as a No.10, which is his best position, allowing him to play a pass and score goals.

However, I observe him on the left, the right, and sometimes even as the deepest Manchester United player, retrieving the ball from the goalkeeper.

I don’t think that is healthy for the team. It disrupts the formation and the style of play,” remarked Scholes.

The critique raises questions about whether Erik Ten Hag could optimize the performance of the 29-year-old playmaker, adding to concerns about the Dutchman’s managerial capabilities at a top-tier club.
