Liverpool is in a favorable position to secure the services of a highly-regarded 22-year-old defender, especially as Manchester United has withdrawn from the potential deal.

Following an impressive 5-1 victory over Toulouse in the Europa League, Jurgen Klopp should be understandably content with the strong performance of his Liverpool squad in both domestic and European competitions this season.

Following an impressive 5-1 victory over Toulouse in the Europa League, Jurgen Klopp should be understandably content with the strong performance of his Liverpool squad in both domestic and European competitions this season.

The Reds appear to have regained their competitive edge as they pursue a Premier League title they hope to celebrate with their fans. Currently, it’s challenging to identify any glaring weaknesses in the team, but that hasn’t deterred the German manager and his support staff from continually seeking ways to enhance the squad.

As reported by SportBILD, the club is currently assessing the potential of Goncalo Inacio, a highly-rated 22-year-old Portuguese defender.

According to reports, Liverpool has emerged as the leading contender to secure the player, while TeamTalk has indicated that Manchester United has withdrawn from the race due to financial constraints.

This is because Inacio would require any interested team to meet his entire release clause, which amounts to €60 million or £52.3 million.

Liverpool already boasts one of the most sturdy defenses in the English top-flight, having conceded just nine goals to date.

Consequently, if Inacio were to join Liverpool in January, he would need to make an immediate impact.

Described as a left-sided center-back who is reportedly adept at playing with the ball at his feet and initiating attacks from the back, he could potentially be an ideal partner for team captain Virgil van Dijk.

This explains why Liverpool is seemingly making an earnest effort to secure his services.
