Everton’s squad now contains several players capable of producing moments of real quality, following what has been a promising summer in the transfer market.
David Moyes has been backed with signings such as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, individuals who have already shown they can make a genuine difference for the experienced manager. While Moyes was pleased with the club’s recruitment during the off-season, he also recognised that further reinforcements may be required when the January window arrives.
The Toffees are now facing a challenging period, however, with a number of key players set to miss upcoming Premier League fixtures. Despite that, Moyes remains determined to push Everton toward European qualification, and several members of the squad have already demonstrated they possess that level of ability.
One standout performer at Goodison Park has even been rated by Dewsbury-Hall as having more raw quality than his former Chelsea teammate, Cole Palmer.
Iliman Ndiaye, who has departed to represent his country at the Africa Cup of Nations, is not expected to return until next month. His absence will be keenly felt, as he has been one of Everton’s most influential players this season.
Speaking to Stan Sport, Dewsbury-Hall admitted he believes Ndiaye surpasses Palmer in terms of pure skill. He explained that while Palmer is smooth and elegant in his movement, Ndiaye offers something different, regularly beating multiple opponents with his dribbling and flair.
The two attackers faced off against each other at the weekend, with Palmer ending the match on the winning side and adding a goal to his tally. Even so, many Chelsea supporters were impressed by Ndiaye’s performance, particularly his impact on both wings for Everton.
Heading to AFCON as one of Everton’s joint top scorers, Ndiaye will be a huge loss over the coming weeks. Moyes will be hoping the Senegal international returns fit and injury-free.
Although the Premier League campaign has yet to reach its midpoint, Ndiaye’s form has already attracted attention from across Europe. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that interest in the forward could grow ahead of the summer window.
Everton are understood to be considering offering Ndiaye an improved contract if he maintains his strong performances during the second half of the season. While there are other contract priorities at the club, including James Garner, Ndiaye’s situation is firmly on the radar.
Should Everton fall short of European qualification, it would not be a surprise to see major clubs from around the continent make enquiries about one of the Premier League’s most exciting performers this season.
