According to Prominent Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano Liverpool have officially submitted a huge proposal for Marc Guéhi, with negotiations now in progress.

On transfer deadline day, Liverpool’s attempt to secure Marc Guéhi from Crystal Palace was ultimately unsuccessful. Sporting director Richard Hughes submitted a last-minute bid of £35 million for the Eagles’ captain, but Palace withdrew from the agreement after failing to find a suitable replacement in time.

This late reversal frustrated Liverpool, who have since felt the consequences of being short a key defender. However, with Guéhi’s contract set to expire in 2026, the club remains optimistic about finalizing a high-profile free transfer.

Liverpool’s path to signing him is now far from clear, however. Reports indicate that as many as 13 clubs are now showing interest. While Liverpool had hoped to arrange a cut-price deal in January, Palace manager Oliver Glasner is reportedly adamant that Guéhi will not be sold mid-season. Furthermore, the player himself is said to be prepared to remain at Selhurst Park until the summer, which would trigger a major bidding war for his signature.

Liverpool are confirmed to be among the clubs that have already communicated with Guéhi’s representatives regarding a summer move. They face significant competition, though, with Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham also ready to present formal offers. Major European clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain, are also poised to begin official talks in January.

Although Guéhi had previously agreed to join Liverpool before Palace cancelled the summer deal, the club hopes their established relationship will prove advantageous when one of the most competitive free-agent pursuits begins next year.
