According to Prominent Italian Journalist Fabrizio Romano, A Manchester United player has been warned he “won’t be missed,” with calls growing for Ruben Amorim to make the ruthless decision to remove him from the squad. ‎

Ruben Amorim has been urged to cut ties with Harry Maguire at the end of the season, even though the defender has been an important figure for Manchester United this year.

Maguire, now 32, has featured in eight of United’s 11 Premier League matches and has generally delivered solid performances. However, with his contract due to expire in the summer, Amorim must decide whether to keep him on reduced terms or allow him to walk away so younger talents can step forward.

Former United defender Paul Parker believes extending Maguire’s stay would be the wrong call. Speaking to UtdDistrict, he argued that United should avoid letting “sentiment” block the progress of emerging centre-backs such as Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven.

“They’ve been talking about Harry Maguire, and I think it would be a mistake to let sentiment hinder the development of other players,” Parker said. “With Martinez returning, and with Heaven and Yoro coming through, you don’t need another centre-back – especially with how he’s playing. Keeping Maguire only slows Yoro’s progress.”

Parker added that United should focus on building around Matthijs de Ligt, using his experience to mentor the next generation. “You have to make decisions for the majority, not one player. And if that’s the case, Maguire won’t be missed.”

United’s dilemma

Amorim has praised Maguire often, and his consistency over recent seasons gives United a tough decision. While the club could offer him a reduced-wage extension – well below his current £190,000-per-week deal – letting him go poses risks.

Lisandro Martinez’s injury record makes him unreliable across a full campaign, and several other defenders still lack top-level experience. Yet if Maguire is open to a lower salary, keeping him would provide depth and leadership.

If he leaves, there will be no shortage of Premier League clubs interested.
