Zlatan Ibrahimović on Alexander Isak: “Carabao Cup is not our type”
Ibrahimović urges Isak to aim higher than Newcastle, claiming “Carabao Cup is not our type.”
Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimović has weighed in on Alexander Isak’s future, offering typically bold words about his fellow countryman’s career decisions.
In a statement that reflects his trademark confidence, Ibrahimović suggested that Isak has now taken the right step by leaving Newcastle United for greater ambitions.
Zlatan’s Verdict on Isak
“He is a Swedish boy. He knows he needs to fill in my shoes. But playing for a Carabao Cup football club will not allow him even to come close to the titles I have won,” Ibrahimović remarked.
The former Manchester United striker didn’t stop there. He turned his attention to Newcastle, insisting that the Premier League side needed Isak more than the striker needed them.
“So Newcastle United must understand they were playing for Isak, not the other way around. So he released Newcastle from his life. That’s how a Swedish man rolls. Soon he will play for league titles. Carabao Cup is indeed not our type.”
A Message of Expectation
Ibrahimović, who has collected league titles across Italy, Spain, France, and the Netherlands, made it clear that he sees Isak as the next great Swedish forward. However, his comments also carried a challenge: Isak must now prove himself at a club capable of winning major silverware.
With Zlatan’s shadow looming large, Isak’s next chapter will be closely watched—not just in Sweden but across Europe.
