Ghanaian midfielder ends five-year Arsenal spell amid injuries and controversy, seals La Liga return with Villarreal.

Thomas Partey has officially completed a move to Villarreal CF, signing a two-year contract with the Spanish club. The Ghanaian midfielder leaves Arsenal after four seasons, with all paperwork now signed and a formal announcement expected shortly.

Partey had one year left on his Arsenal contract but chose to seek more consistent playing time elsewhere. Injuries and increased competition in midfield limited his appearances last season, and with Arsenal building for the future, both parties agreed it was time to move on.

Villarreal see Partey as a major reinforcement, bringing experience, strength, and leadership to their midfield. The 31-year-old returns to La Liga, where he rose to prominence with Atlético Madrid before his £45 million move to Arsenal in 2020.

Medical checks were completed earlier this week, and Partey has already begun integrating with Villarreal’s squad. The club is expected to unveil him officially in the coming days.

This move is seen as a fresh start for Partey and a significant boost to Villarreal’s ambitions for the new

season.
