Christopher Nkunku’s current situation at Chelsea is somewhat puzzling.

Despite expectations that he might depart, he was surprisingly included in Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad and has featured regularly during their matches in the U.S. Manager Enzo Maresca continues to express his intention to rely on the Frenchman moving forward.

However, there remains a strong belief that Chelsea are open to offloading Nkunku, even if there hasn’t been significant interest from other clubs yet. Bayern Munich are frequently mentioned as a potential destination due to their financial capabilities and admiration for the player, but no formal movement has occurred at this stage.

This lack of progress is disappointing for Chelsea fans eager to see new attacking talent arrive at Stamford Bridge. Realistically, any new signing in that department may hinge on Nkunku’s departure.

German journalist Florian Plettenberg recently provided an update, revealing that Bayern are merely “monitoring” Nkunku’s situation and have not submitted any offers. Their ability to pursue the forward may rely on their own transfer activity, as they need to offload players before making a move.

Furthermore, with Jamal Musiala suffering a major injury at the Club World Cup—one that is expected to sideline him for much of the upcoming season—Bayern’s need for reinforcements could soon grow. Still, as of now, there’s been no concrete development in the Nkunku saga.
