Ashley Cole has expressed admiration for a former Chelsea academy graduate, praising the player’s development and predicting a bright career ahead.

Several talents nurtured at Cobham have excelled after leaving the club, with Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace standing out. The 24-year-old defender has impressed to the extent that Chelsea are reportedly considering bringing him back, although they’re hesitant to spend heavily with only a year left on his deal.

Tino Livramento is another example of a youngster who left Chelsea and has flourished since. His progress hasn’t come as a shock to Cole, who observed his promise during his time in the club’s Under-21 team. Now working alongside Livramento in the England Under-21 setup, Cole recently shared his thoughts following a 3-1 win over the Czech Republic.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Cole said, “Tino was part of Chelsea’s U21s, and you could always see the passion and potential in his game. His move to Newcastle and consistent first-team minutes have boosted his confidence and allowed him to grow. It was a big step, but he’s becoming an outstanding player.”

Cole also added, “He has a very bright future ahead. Hopefully, he continues progressing at Newcastle, building experience and maintaining his level.”

Chelsea could benefit from someone like Livramento now, especially given their current lack of depth at left-back. With Enzo Maresca reportedly not favoring Ben Chilwell and uncertainty surrounding Renato Veiga’s role, Marc Cucurella appears to be the only clear left-back option.
