Enzo Maresca claimed that Chelsea have secured a player who could be their version of Lamine Yamal.

Chelsea have been told that they may already possess a talent similar to Lamine Yamal, the Barcelona sensation who exploded onto the European football scene at just 16 in 2023. Yamal has quickly established himself as a major figure in the sport, claiming two La Liga titles and a Euro 2024 victory.

 

Former Chelsea winger Willian has drawn parallels between Yamal and Estevao Willian, an 18-year-old Brazilian prospect. He believes Estevao has the ability to help Chelsea secure numerous trophies. The club confirmed last year that Estevao would officially join them this summer upon turning 18, following a £49 million agreement with Palmeiras.

 

Speaking about Estevao’s potential, Willian said: “He has incredible ability and maturity for someone so young. Much like Yamal, he shows similar flair and playing style. If he adapts well to English football, I believe he’ll achieve great success with Chelsea—scoring goals, winning titles, and making a real impact over time.”

 

He also offered advice, emphasizing the difference in football culture between Brazil and England: “He’ll need to work harder than ever when he arrives. I think Chelsea will provide the right environment for his development, and I trust in his mentality. His quality isn’t in question; what matters is how fast he adjusts to the demands of English football.”

 

After his move to Chelsea was announced, Estevao celebrated a goal for Palmeiras by mimicking Cole Palmer’s trademark celebration. The gesture caught Palmer’s attention, prompting an exchange on social media.

 

“When I signed for Chelsea, I scored the next day and copied Palmer’s celebration because it was trending,” Estevao shared with The Guardian. “We talked online—he called me a star, and I told him he’s a star too. He said we’ll do great things together at Chelsea.”

 

Often likened to Lionel Messi, Estevao addressed the comparisons, saying: “I admire Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo, but Messi is my biggest inspiration. He’s someone I look up to, not just for his skills but also his conduct off the field. Being left-footed like him helps too.”

 

He added, “Some players are naturally gifted, others rely on hard work. Messi and Ronaldo are perfect examples—one with talent, the other with relentless effort. I try to combine both. In today’s football, you must stay disciplined, train well, manage your time, and make sacrifices. Without dedication, talent alone isn’t enough.”
