Darwin Nunez set for Liverpool departure after reportedly agreeing terms with another club.

Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to join Atletico Madrid this summer, according to Spanish sources.

 

The Uruguayan international has found it difficult to secure regular playing time under current manager Arne Slot, having started only eight Premier League matches this season.

 

Liverpool are open to selling Nunez during the upcoming transfer window but may struggle to recoup the initial £64 million fee paid to Benfica. The total value of his 2022 transfer, including add-ons, stands at £85 million.

 

Cadena SER reports that Atletico have already held discussions with the 25-year-old striker, who has expressed a strong desire to work under Diego Simeone.

 

It’s claimed that all personal terms have been agreed, and the final step is for Atletico to settle on a transfer fee with Liverpool. However, they face competition from other clubs, including Napoli and teams in the Saudi Pro League.

 

Meanwhile, Liverpool are preparing for a busy summer window, with their first signing close to completion. Jeremie Frimpong has already undergone a medical and is expected to join from Bayer Leverkusen, where he has a €35m (£29.5m) release clause.

 

The Reds are also in active talks to sign Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as they look to strengthen the left-back position.
