Arne Slot has revealed he was truthful with a Liverpool player, stating the individual “wasn’t himself” this season.

Liverpool has been crowned Premier League champions ahead of their match against Chelsea. Arne Slot has outlined his strategy for the rest of the season now that the Reds have secured the English title.

 

Having clinched the title for the 20th time with a 5-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, Liverpool secured the championship with four matches still to play, allowing them to finish the season with less pressure.

 

Though the team could still reach 94 points, their next game is against Chelsea on Sunday. Slot has emphasized that the team will be aiming for a win at Stamford Bridge, although he hinted that some adjustments to the starting lineup might occur, giving players like Federico Chiesa, Harvey Elliott, and Wataru Endo a chance to play.

 

During his pre-match conference, Slot expressed, “It’s great that we’re facing strong teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton, and Crystal Palace. These games present a challenge, and while it’s the season’s end, we must also see it as the beginning of next season.”

 

He added, “It’s Chelsea away first. We faced them earlier, and I was surprised by the gap between us then. They were the stronger team, but we managed to secure a win. To be so far ahead is a huge compliment to everyone here.”

 

Looking ahead, Slot mentioned, “We’re aiming to win all four remaining games. That’s always our goal, and everyone in a Liverpool shirt should want that. My team selections will differ from the previous 10 months. We won’t change everything, but some rotation is expected.”

 

When asked if those who haven’t played as much would be motivated to prove themselves, Slot responded, “They don’t need to prove anything. I see their quality every day in training and have seen them play this season. They want to show they’re good enough to play for us, and I know they are.”

 

Harvey Elliott, one player hoping for more playing time, has yet to start a Premier League match this season but is determined to fight for his spot for next season, despite transfer rumors. Slot acknowledged Elliott’s struggles following a foot injury but noted that he has returned to his best form recently.

 

“Harvey has been with us despite not getting as much playing time due to fierce competition, especially after his injury. Initially, he wasn’t quite the same, but he’s now back to his former self,” Slot explained. “His recent performance shows he’s improving, and I value him more now than when he first returned from injury.”
