Darwin Núñez described securing his first Premier League title as a “dream come true,” marking a high point in a season of mixed fortunes. Despite ongoing criticism over inconsistent finishing, the Liverpool forward played pivotal roles in key matches like those against Brentford and Southampton. Signed from Benfica nearly three years ago in a record-breaking transfer, Núñez has experienced both highs and lows under Jürgen Klopp and now Arne Slot. Yet, his resilience has earned him a spot in the club’s recent title celebrations.

Following the decisive win over Tottenham—where Núñez featured from the 83rd minute—he took to Instagram to thank Liverpool fans for their support, writing: “Dream come true: my first Premier League title” with a trophy emoji, and added, “This league belongs to you,” accompanied by a red heart emoji.

Although he didn’t score during the final match, Núñez came close, opting to pass to Mohamed Salah in one chance and shooting from a tight angle in another. These moments reflect the frustration that has followed his time at Liverpool. Just a day before the Tottenham clash, a now-deleted post from Núñez on X hinted at dissatisfaction over limited playtime—only 17 starts out of 43 appearances this season.

Amid uncertainty about his future at Anfield, especially with Liverpool rumored to be eyeing new attacking options, Núñez continues to receive strong backing from his fellow countryman and childhood idol, Luis Suárez. Suárez—who once came close to winning the league with Liverpool himself—remains a proud supporter of Núñez’s journey, cheering him on as he makes his own mark on the club’s history.
