Chelsea may offload six players as Enzo Maresca’s potential ‘bomb squad’ emerges — sources.

Chelsea are preparing for a busy transfer window, with multiple players set to exit Stamford Bridge. Sources indicate another ‘bomb squad’ situation similar to last summer could happen. The Blues are working behind the scenes to secure early transfers before the Club World Cup kicks off on June 14.

 

Incoming players are expected to push some current squad members to the fringes, leading to the sale of several unwanted stars to help fund Enzo Maresca’s new signings.

 

As reported earlier on February 10, Chelsea highly rate Bournemouth centre-back Dean Huijsen and are battling Liverpool and Real Madrid for his signature. TEAMtalk understands Huijsen’s arrival would make Trevoh Chalobah available for sale. Despite being recalled from his Crystal Palace loan in January, Chalobah is still expected to leave this summer. Sources say Palace are interested in making his move permanent, especially as Marc Guehi may depart.

 

Joao Felix will be sold after his loan at AC Milan, while Andrey Santos, though promised a squad role after impressing at Strasbourg, may leave if not given regular minutes.

 

Interest is growing in several out-of-favour Chelsea players. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is among those up for sale, attracting attention from Burnley and other Premier League sides. Although Dewsbury-Hall prefers a European club, he prioritizes regular playing time.

 

Chelsea are also open to selling winger Noni Madueke if the right offer arrives, as was the case in January. Despite featuring in 28 league matches, Maresca is seeking upgrades and is in talks with Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens, valued at £35m and under contract until 2028.

 

Lastly, Christopher Nkunku could also depart. Reports from November 25 stated Nkunku is unhappy with limited game time and is open to leaving. Barcelona and Arsenal are both interested, with Nkunku potentially available for around £40m.
