Ruben Amorim acknowledges Marcus Rashford’s comeback and gives a clue about his own future at Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim has hinted that Marcus Rashford could still have a role to play at Manchester United, keeping the door open for his potential return. Rashford, who went on loan to Aston Villa in January, is widely expected to leave permanently this summer.

 

Amorim previously sidelined Rashford in December and is planning significant changes to the squad during the upcoming transfer window. Yet, while speaking ahead of United’s clash with Bournemouth, he indicated that no final decision has been made.

 

“All loaned players will return, and the club will assess things after the season ends,” Amorim explained. “The goal of a loan is for the player to do well, and these players clearly have talent that can benefit the team.”

 

Alongside Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia are also on temporary spells at other clubs. Amorim praised their abilities, emphasizing that good performances while on loan benefit United’s long-term plans.

 

Since joining Villa, Rashford has tallied four goals and six assists in 17 matches, earning praise from manager Unai Emery, who has even preferred him over Ollie Watkins in key fixtures. Villa reportedly have a £40 million purchase clause, and United had seemed open to selling him as they look to raise funds for reinforcements.

 

Despite his contract running until June 2028, Rashford is believed to have ruled out both a return to United and a permanent switch to Villa. The 27-year-old is not interested in joining a London club but is determined to play Champions League football, possibly in Spain.

 

To finance summer signings, United are exploring ways to cash in on loanees like Rashford. The club is also negotiating a move for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha and is prepared to activate his £62.5 million release clause when the window opens in June.

 

Amorim declined to confirm transfer details, stating, “Plans can still change depending on how the season ends. I’m focused on the present and prefer not to comment on individual players.”
