Romano reports that an Arsenal player has chosen to exit the club following unsuccessful contract negotiations.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Jorginho is set to part ways with Arsenal after contract renewal discussions collapsed, although Thomas Partey could still remain at the club.

 

The Gunners, aiming to strengthen their squad for a stronger title push, are expected to finish second in the Premier League for a third straight season, with Liverpool now on the verge of clinching the title.

 

Both Jorginho and Partey were rumored to leave this summer, but while the Ghanaian midfielder may stay, Romano reports that Jorginho will depart once his deal expires in June. This comes after earlier comments from Jorginho’s agent, who noted in March that they’d begin talks with clubs from England, Italy, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil by mid-April.

 

Arsenal’s top midfield target is believed to be Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad, as they look to reinforce key areas.

 

Manager Mikel Arteta recently promised a “big summer” in the transfer window, with fans hopeful of signing Newcastle striker Alexander Isak to bolster the frontline.

 

Injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz earlier this year exposed Arsenal’s limited attacking depth, even forcing Mikel Merino to step in as a temporary striker.

 

Many supporters had called for a new center-forward before the season began, but those pleas were overlooked.
