On the surface, things appear ideal at Liverpool. The soon-to-be Premier League champions need just one point against Tottenham at Anfield on Sunday to clinch the title, capping off an outstanding first season for Arne Slot.

 

Adding to the positive momentum, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have signed new contracts, ending speculation about their futures. Slot is also expected to receive substantial backing in the transfer window as he builds a squad ready to defend the title in 2025/26 and compete strongly in the Champions League. However, despite the club’s success, questions remain over the futures of several players.

 

Darwin Nunez continues to be linked with a potential exit, while Harvey Elliott’s role has become uncertain following Jurgen Klopp’s departure. Calls for the young midfielder to consider leaving have grown louder.

 

Despite scoring a crucial goal in the Champions League last-16 first leg against PSG, Elliott has made just 23 appearances this season—mostly from the bench. Former Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole recently highlighted Elliott as a player who might need to move to find regular game time. Speaking to Paddy Power, Cole said: “Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones are both excellent players with the potential to represent England, but Liverpool’s midfield depth makes it tough for them.”

 

Klopp had long praised Elliott’s importance to the team, and after stepping down, he admitted he regretted not giving the youngster more chances after signing him from Fulham at 16.

 

Cole added, “I’d love to see Harvey getting regular minutes. There are clubs out there that would be very keen if he becomes available.”
