Ornstein delivers major update on Victor Osimhen’s potential move to Man Utd: “I’m confident…”

Transfer insider David Ornstein has shared updates on Manchester United’s transfer plans for the summer window.

 

The Red Devils are prioritizing the addition of reliable goal-scorers, especially after a season where they’ve only managed 38 league goals while conceding 46. Rasmus Hojlund’s form has dipped since his initial promise, and although Joshua Zirkzee has shown glimpses of talent, his goal tally hasn’t matched expectations and he’s now ruled out for the rest of the season.

 

In response, INEOS is now exploring Premier League-proven targets like Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap.

 

According to Ornstein, if Delap’s transfer doesn’t materialize, United will not be considering Victor Osimhen as a backup plan.

 

Delap has outperformed United’s current strikers in terms of goals this season. His contract includes a £30 million release clause—triggered if Ipswich Town are relegated—while Cunha is available for £62.5 million following his February contract extension.

 

Cunha reportedly favors a move to Old Trafford regardless of whether United qualify for the Champions League. Meanwhile, Delap is also attracting interest from Chelsea, who might offer him European football.

 

Despite speculation, Ornstein clarified, “Even if United pursue other names, I’ve been told Victor Osimhen is not under consideration. They may explore different targets or stick with options like Rasmus Hojlund and invest in strengthening other areas.”
