Endrick needs to take Carlo Ancelotti’s public advice seriously if he wants to thrive at Real Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, has recently faced significant criticism, with speculation surrounding his future at the club. There’s talk of Xabi Alonso being considered as his long-term successor. However, one thing is certain: Ancelotti’s experience and wisdom should be respected, as he has been in football longer than many of the current Real Madrid players have been alive.

 

Following Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Getafe on Wednesday night, Ancelotti expressed frustration with Endrick’s performance. Despite having two excellent opportunities to score, Endrick failed to capitalize on one, notably missing an attempted chip over the goalkeeper. He also appeared to spend more time on the ground, often complaining.

 

Ancelotti’s criticism was direct but fair, highlighting Endrick’s need to mature. The manager emphasized that the young player must improve if he hopes to succeed at Real Madrid. Ancelotti remarked, “He [Endrick] had two chances, yes. The first one he couldn’t have done better, and the second one, it could have been offside. It could have been. But, effectively, he can’t do these things. He is young and must learn. He has to play as hard as possible, not play for the theatre. The drama club doesn’t exist in football.”

 

This feedback was justified—Endrick should have taken the opportunity regardless of any concerns about offside. One of the most basic principles taught to young players is to always play until the whistle blows.

 

It’s also possible that Endrick was trying to play to the whistle and opted for the chip, thinking it was the best option. Ancelotti’s comments about the unnecessary chip are understandable, as it could have jeopardized three important points in the league title race.

 

Endrick undoubtedly possesses immense talent. His physical skills and abilities are remarkable, and his success is almost certain. What remains to be developed is his mentality. While age is a factor, many young players show maturity early in their careers, and Endrick can do the same. Ancelotti clearly believes in his potential—it’s all about developing the right mindset.
