Carlo Ancelotti has reiterated his deep connection with Real Madrid, stating once more that he hopes to remain with the club for the foreseeable future, despite continued rumors about his future.
In a press conference ahead of their away fixture against Getafe, Ancelotti addressed key matters such as player injuries, team depth, the La Liga title challenge, and the upcoming Copa del Rey final.
Dealing with injuries and tactical hurdles
Ancelotti admitted this season has posed significant challenges, particularly due to injuries to crucial players which have required tactical readjustments.
“We clearly had setbacks,” he explained. “Losing two vital defenders made things tough. Adapting to new player dynamics has disrupted our balance. Hopefully, we’re stabilizing now—if not, our chances of winning trophies will be slim.”
Updates on Mbappe and Mendy
He also spoke about the recovery status of Kylian Mbappe and Ferland Mendy. Though neither is ready for the Getafe clash, Ancelotti remains hopeful both will be fit by the weekend.
“They’ll train in the coming days. I expect both to be available by Saturday,” he said.
He defended Mbappe amid recent criticism: “He’s frustrated because he wants to contribute. He’s fully focused on recovering in time.”
Ancelotti’s future and team management
As for his role at the club, Ancelotti expressed nothing but appreciation. He emphasized his desire to continue, while also accepting that if his time ends, he’ll move on respectfully.
“This club means a lot to me. I want to stay as long as I can. When it’s time to leave, I’ll do so with thanks,” he stated.
He acknowledged the complexities of this campaign but stressed that the situation is being tackled collectively. “This year has been more demanding, but the club understands. We’re united in our response. Despite the pressure, I remain motivated—it drives me.”
Praise for Endrick and Fran Garcia
Ancelotti commended young talent Endrick for his rapid development, suggesting the forward will take on more responsibility in certain matches.
“He’s improving steadily and will play a larger role, especially in games that suit his skills.”
He also noted Fran Garcia’s progress, despite some positional challenges: “He’s doing better with more minutes. Vinicius’ wide role can limit his forward runs, but he’s adapting well.”
Focus on Copa del Rey and title ambitions
Discussing their title chances, Ancelotti highlighted the importance of beating Barcelona in both La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
“Our goal is to win both competitions, and that means overcoming Barcelona. We’re optimistic, but we know some tactical changes are needed—and we’ll make them.”
Regarding the upcoming final, he dismissed the notion that Madrid are underdogs: “Barcelona may appear stronger, but finals are unpredictable. Saying Madrid are the weaker side feels like an overstatement.”
