Goals from Bruno Fernandes (penalty), Kobbie Mainoo, and a last-gasp header from Harry Maguire – who had been pushed up front in a desperate tactical switch – saw the Red Devils pull off a sensational turnaround and keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive.

Adding to the positives, midfielders Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte managed to avoid picking up bookings, meaning they will be available for the first leg of the semi-final against Athletic Bilbao. Both were carrying two yellow cards going into the match, and a further caution would have ruled them out of the next fixture. Now, with yellow card counts reset, they are no longer at risk of a suspension from another booking.

However, United still face potential disciplinary concerns. If any player receives a straight red card in the semi-finals, they will miss the final should United progress.
