Exciting update as Amorim announces the return of two Manchester United players for Sunday’s Premier League match against Wolves.
Ruben Amorim has confirmed that both Victor Lindelof and Noussair Mazraoui will be available for Sunday’s Premier League encounter against Wolves at Old Trafford.
During his pre-match press conference, held shortly after his team’s thrilling 7-6 aggregate win over Lyon, Amorim first commented on Wolves’ improvement under their new manager and fellow countryman, Vitor Pereira.
“He’s doing a fantastic job,” Amorim stated. “They’re using a 3-4-3 formation effectively. He’s rotating the squad and has some very talented players like Matheus Cunha. They’re in good form, so we expect a difficult match and will need strong support from the fans.”
When asked about potential changes to his squad following the intense midweek game, Amorim acknowledged he might rest some players.
“I’ll have to assess things. Someone like Dalot is always prepared, but he looked exhausted today. Anyone who is at risk of injury will be protected. We’ll decide tomorrow.”
He was also asked whether the younger players in the team are ready for more responsibility.
“This hasn’t been the ideal season to introduce the younger players since they need a solid foundation to shine,” he explained. “But sometimes you’re forced to give them a chance, and they surprise you.”
He went on to mention Ayden, who initially played due to an injury crisis but has now become a full part of the squad. “Ayden is now my player. When he’s fit, he competes for a spot like anyone else. Amass also had a great performance today. Chido has done well when called upon. So while it’s not the perfect time, if needed, we’ll trust them.”
Amorim was then asked about Lindelof, who appeared ready to come on against Lyon but, along with Mazraoui, didn’t feature due to personal reasons.
“They’re both available,” he confirmed. “They had personal matters to attend to, so we let them go. Everything is fine now. Football is important, but there are things that matter even more. They’ll be ready for the next match.”
When questioned if Chido Obi would get more minutes, Amorim responded, “Yes, I believe he will.”
Pressed for more details on Lindelof and Mazraoui’s situations, Amorim explained that the issues arose during the match and were out of the team’s control, but both players are now fine.
Asked about Andre Onana’s performance, Amorim was pleased. “He had a great game. I’m happy for him. It’s been a challenging time, but now he needs to stay focused for what’s ahead.”
Lastly, regarding Matheus Cunha, who has expressed a desire to move to a bigger club, Amorim clarified his earlier mention of the player. “I only mentioned him because he’s scoring frequently. That’s all.”
