Manchester United are targeting a top European prospect as a potential replacement for a struggling player at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing Parma’s Zion Suzuki as a possible replacement for Andre Onana this summer, according to TuttoMercatoWeb. Concerns have grown over Onana’s recent form under manager Ruben Amorim, prompting the club to revisit their interest in the Japanese international.

Onana, who joined from Inter Milan for £47 million in 2023, was dropped for United’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle after a disappointing performance in the 2-2 draw against Lyon. Although his contract runs until June 2028, his position at the club now appears uncertain.

United had previously approached Suzuki in September 2023 while searching for a backup to Onana, but the 22-year-old turned down the move. Since then, he has impressed at Parma following his switch from Belgian side Sint-Truidense and is tied to the Italian club until 2029.

TuttoMercatoWeb reports that United are considering reigniting their pursuit, though they’d need to meet Parma’s asking price of €45 million (£39 million). Recognized as one of Europe’s most promising young goalkeepers, Suzuki has made 31 Serie A appearances this season, conceding 46 goals and recording six clean sheets.

With Amorim planning a summer rebuild, United are expected to target at least five signings, including reinforcements in defense, midfield, attack, and potentially in goal, as part of their strategy to strengthen the squad.
