Manchester United update: Alejandro Garnacho has reportedly agreed to leave the club, with a budget-friendly transfer likely approaching.

Alejandro Garnacho is reportedly on the verge of leaving Manchester United, potentially for a lower transfer fee, with personal terms already agreed.

 

The Argentine, who was born in Spain, has had a challenging season at Old Trafford, managing just nine goals in 47 appearances. Manager Ruben Amorim has struggled to get the best out of his squad, prompting speculation of major changes this summer. With Manchester United needing to make player sales to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), it’s likely that some key players, including Garnacho, could be sold as part of Amorim’s plans to reshape the team.

 

Despite his dip in form, Garnacho still features in FourFourTwo’s list of top left-wingers. However, fans and pundits have criticized his performances and questioned his attitude. Former club captain and Sky Sports analyst Gary Neville supported Amorim’s decision to drop him for the Manchester Derby in December. Meanwhile, ex-United defender Paul Parker made scathing remarks, suggesting the 20-year-old had disappointed his family with his recent displays.

 

Reports from Italian publication Calciomercato earlier this year suggested that Napoli had reached an agreement with Garnacho as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano later explained that the deal didn’t materialize due to a gap in valuation between the two clubs—something that might now have changed.

 

According to Il Mattino, via CalcioNapoli24, Manchester United may now be open to letting Garnacho go for around €45 million, with a summer clear-out anticipated. Napoli boss Antonio Conte is believed to admire the winger, referring to him as a “little jewel,” which could lead the Italian club to reignite their interest.

 

Sources indicate that United are open to listening to offers for Garnacho, especially since his homegrown status means any fee received would count entirely in this year’s financial records without amortization. In a Q&A on The Athletic, respected journalist David Ornstein noted that players such as Antony, Rashford, Sancho, Casemiro, and Mainoo might also be on the chopping block. While United may not be actively looking to sell Garnacho or Mainoo, suitable offers could prompt a transfer decision based on both sporting and financial factors.

 

Garnacho is currently valued at €50 million by Transfermarkt. Manchester United are scheduled to face Lyon on Thursday, followed by a league clash with Newcastle United on Sunday.
