During a press conference on Wednesday, Maresca acknowledged that Sancho’s attacking statistics, particularly his goal-scoring record, needed to be better. The Chelsea head coach expressed concern that the winger is not testing opposition goalkeepers enough, as evidenced by his tally of just two Premier League goals this season.

Ahead of Chelsea’s match against Tottenham Hotspur, Maresca confirmed that Nicolas Jackson would be available. He also emphasized to reporters that Sancho needs to take more shots on goal.
“Jadon could shoot much more,” Maresca told The Guardian. “Hopefully, he is going to shoot more from now on.”
Statistics from WhoScored reveal that Sancho averages only 0.8 shots per game in the Premier League this season. In contrast, Jackson, who leads Chelsea’s attack, records 2.7 shots per game—the third-highest in the squad, which is expected for a first-choice striker.
Another Chelsea player with a strong shooting output is Noni Madueke. The winger frequently cuts in from the right and challenges goalkeepers with his left foot—exactly the kind of approach desired from an attacking wide player. His shot average stands at 2.8 per game, slightly higher than Jackson’s.
Meanwhile, Cole Palmer stands out as Chelsea’s most active shooter. The English forward, who was the club’s top scorer last season and remains so this campaign, averages 3.6 shots per game. While his goal tally is aided by penalties, Palmer’s willingness to take chances is paying off.
Sancho could certainly take inspiration from Palmer, though his time at Chelsea may be running out. Reports suggest he could return to Borussia Dortmund for a third spell this summer, leaving his future uncertain.
