“He can leave if he wants to, we already have a replacement ready for him and besides he’s not giving what i want from him” – This is according to Arne Slot as Liverpool prepare £62.5m bid for Premier League star as replacement for ‘top departure candidate’ at Anfield.

Liverpool are reportedly targeting Wolves forward Matheus Cunha for a summer transfer, according to recent reports.

Arne Slot’s side has enjoyed an outstanding Premier League season, currently sitting at the top of the table with a 12-point lead over second-placed Arsenal after 29 matches. With just one league defeat all season, it would take a major collapse for Liverpool to lose their grip on the title.

While speculation over the futures of key players such as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Virgil van Dijk has been a major talking point, there are also uncertainties surrounding other squad members. Darwin Nunez, in particular, has been at the center of transfer rumors after struggling for regular starts under Slot, despite receiving significant playing time under Jurgen Klopp.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently suggested that Nunez is likely to leave in the summer, while Luis Diaz’s future remains uncertain. He mentioned that there had been interest from Saudi Arabia, but Diaz opted to stay for now.

According to Football Insider, Nunez is now considered the leading candidate to depart Anfield at the end of the season, potentially prompting Liverpool to make a move for a new forward. The club is reportedly monitoring Matheus Cunha as a possible replacement.

The report highlights that Cunha, who has impressed for Wolves this season, recently signed a new contract in February. However, he has publicly expressed his desire to move on. Liverpool could trigger the £62.5 million release clause included in his contract to secure his transfer.

Meanwhile, despite being left out of Slot’s starting XI frequently, Nunez has vowed to continue working hard. While on international duty, he acknowledged his inconsistent performances but remained committed to improving and contributing to his team.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Liverpool’s potential pursuit of Cunha could depend on the final decision regarding Nunez’s future at the club.
