Sky Sports reports that Manchester United are ‘seriously considering’ making a move to sign a highly talented striker described as ‘insane.’

Manchester United are reportedly giving serious thought to signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike this summer, as per Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

With Ruben Amorim aiming to overhaul the squad, the club is expected to be active in the transfer market, particularly focusing on strengthening the attack. Currently, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee are the main striker options, but neither has firmly secured a starting role. As a result, United are now targeting the French youth international to enhance their frontline.

Ekitike, formerly of Paris Saint-Germain, has been in excellent form for Frankfurt this season, scoring 19 goals and providing seven assists in 37 matches across all competitions. His standout performances have earned him high praise, and United are now weighing up a move to bring him to Old Trafford as Amorim reshapes the squad to fit his vision.

However, Frankfurt are well aware of the growing interest in the 22-year-old and have set a £67 million asking price—significantly higher than the £14 million they spent to make his loan move permanent a year ago.

United have been exploring various striker options across Europe, with names like Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres—whom Amorim previously worked with—being considered. But with Champions League qualification uncertain and financial constraints to navigate, Ekitike has emerged as a more feasible alternative.
