Jurgen Klopp may be poised for a managerial comeback after departing Liverpool, with strong interest from three clubs.
TBR Football has exclusively learned that former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could soon be presented with an opportunity to return to management this summer.
Klopp stepped away from his role at Anfield last year and later took on the position of Head of Global Soccer for Red Bull, a role he began in January.
The German coach cemented his legacy at Liverpool by guiding them to major honors, including the Premier League and Champions League titles. Now, he is being linked with three potential managerial roles—one at a club and two at the international level.
Klopp Considered by Real Madrid, Brazil, and the United States
Although Klopp is not in a rush to return to the dugout, TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reports that his name is being discussed among key decision-makers at Real Madrid.
Current Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is expected to step down at the end of the season and transition into international management. He is widely regarded as the frontrunner to take over the Brazil national team after the departure of Dorival Júnior.
Interestingly, Brazil is one of the teams that could be an option for Klopp, though Ancelotti remains their priority candidate.
With Ancelotti’s future still uncertain, Real Madrid has been exploring alternatives. While former Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, currently managing Bayer Leverkusen, is their top target, Klopp is also being considered. Some within the club believe an experienced coach is needed to manage their blend of global superstars and emerging young talent—an area where Klopp has proven expertise.
Klopp’s experience is not only drawing interest from Real Madrid and Brazil but also from the United States. Sources suggest that should the USMNT part ways with Mauricio Pochettino, Klopp would be among their preferred choices. Pochettino has faced challenges since taking over the U.S. national team and has also been linked with a potential return to Tottenham Hotspur, where speculation about Ange Postecoglou’s future is growing.
Klopp’s Thoughts on His Current Role and Future Plans
Upon starting his position at Red Bull, Klopp expressed interest in focusing on football development, an aspect he felt was difficult to prioritize while managing a first-team squad.
“I’ve been a leader for the last three decades, but now I want to listen, learn, and understand what has been done so far. The team here has done a fantastic job, and I want to help bring it all together,” he said during his introductory press conference.
He emphasized the contrast between his new role and his previous managerial career, stating that the relentless cycle of games had left little time for broader football development.
“Now I’m free from that. I have the time and energy to focus on other things. Red Bull’s approach to sports is exciting, innovative, and something I want to be a part of,” Klopp added.
He also reiterated his commitment to player development, saying, “I’ve always wanted to help people improve. The only difference now is that instead of working with one club, I am involved with multiple teams.”
Notably, Klopp has previously stated that he would never manage another English club after leaving Liverpool. All three of the options currently being considered—Real Madrid, Brazil, and the United States—would allow him to keep that promise.
