While Liverpool and Arsenal are contending for the title, and Manchester City and Chelsea are battling for Champions League qualification, Ruben Amorim’s United remain stuck in the lower half of the table.

 

With less than three months left in the season, there’s still time for the Red Devils to improve. However, regardless of any progress they make, they are likely to fall short of their initial objectives for the season.

 

Winning the FA Cup or the Europa League could provide a glimmer of hope, but it’s clear that significant changes are needed if the club wants to return to its former glory.

 

According to GiveMeSport, Amorim is unhappy with the squad he inherited, citing a lack of balance and poor recruitment.

 

So far, the Portuguese manager has only been able to bring in full-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce during the January transfer window. He remains dissatisfied with the squad’s composition, particularly the ageing midfield options like Casemiro and Christian Eriksen, who are no longer performing at the highest level.

 

Additionally, Amorim is concerned about the pressure placed on young talents such as Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Hojlund. Despite their potential, they are still developing and not yet ready to carry the team due to the lack of squad depth.

 

The club’s poor recruitment strategy, largely attributed to former manager Erik ten Hag, has left the team lacking quality. Amorim will need full backing from the club during the summer transfer window to rebuild the squad and bring in players that align with his style of play.
